Man of La Mancha

Man of La Mancha
Thursday, Sept. 29 through Sunday, Nov. 6

Court Theatre will present Man of La Mancha, the epic story of knight-errant Don Quixote, his servant Sancho and the woman of his dreams, the lovely Aldonza/Dulcinea.  Set during the Spanish Inquisition, the tale follows the romantic and noble journey of a knight who sets out to right all wrongs and win a good woman's heart while dueling with windmills along the way.  BAsed on Cervantes' The Adventures of Don Quixote, Man of La Mancha  is the classic comic tragedy of a man's struggle against the impossible.  Performances will run Thurday, Sept. 29 through Sunday, Nov. 6, at Court Theatre, 5535 S. Obbie Bermudez apoya jovenes latinos en Chicago

On February 9th, Radio Arte welcomed pop star Obie Bermúdez  as he stopped by our studios to present an autographed Gibson guitar to our friends at the Association House. The Association House will use the guitar in their Annual Benefit, Salsa in the City. Each year, Salsa in the City brings together local business leaders, donors, and volunteers to support Association House.

Obie presenting guitar to Association House Director-Raquel & Cynthia of Ponle Play were MC's for the evening.

Obie, who is one of the official spokespeople for the Burger King Corporation, chatted it up with our students Melania & Adriana (Wednesdays 7-8pm).  He afterwards met with fans and gave them a live acoustic performarnce of his hit, "Todo El Año".  Thanks Obie!

BIZ-TEK Training Program

Are you interested in getting a free technical job training? If so, this is what Biz-Tek can offer you. 

The Biz-Tek program is a college- level course that teaches students business and computer skills for getting an enrty -level position, preparing for college or starting a business.  In the program students will learn: MS Office and Typing, QuickBooks Pro and Basic Acounting, Business Concepts & Strategies, Professional/ Business Writing, Project Management and Small Business Management Techniques.  Graduates will receive a Certificate, signed by the Chamber of Commerce and Job/ College placement assistance.  Classes start on February 5, 2005, Monday  through Friday, from 9:00am to 1:00pm.  The 16 week course will be held at Youth Service Project, Inc. located on 3942 W. North Ave, in Chicago Illinois.  Students will complete a 4-week internship prior to graduation.  In order to qualify for this program you need to be in the age of 18 to 24 with a high school diploma or GED and have a basic computer knowledge.  To enroll in this great opportunity contact Renee Daye at 773.772.6270, ext. 113 or email her at rdaye@youthserviceproject.org.
